Is it just me, or do you also find that no matter how big your house, basement, garage or closets are, they always seem to get super full, super fast?! The more room you have, the more objects you acquire… Extra storage is hard to come by… Or is it?!
Even though I am always trying to clean and de-clutter, it still never hurts to have some extra storage space.
I myself, have a couple of hutches/buffets that I use for some really stylish and functional storage space. Continue reading →
Planning the perfect table setting for each season can be a somewhat daunting task…. Finding the right color pallet, incorporating different patterns and textures, and staying on budget of course, are just some of the challenges faced…
The trick is to purchase a few all-around neutral pieces that you can reuse for every season, and then just switch out a few of the pieces, like the napkin colors and the centerpiece, to get a totally different look for the next season!
Given the time of year, I decided to select all of the must-have pieces for the perfect farmhouse style table setting, for the season of fall! (My fav!)Continue reading →
Is your baby teething?! Or to be more specific, super grumpy all the time and waking up throughout the night for no apparent reason?! If nothing else is noticeably wrong, then chances are that they are probably teething…
Some common symptoms and signs of teething include:
Bumpy and Swollen Gums
Trying to Bite and Put Everything in their Mouths
Some associate fever and diarrhea with teething, but there is still some argument as to whether or not they are directly related
Did you know that there is a trick that you can use to ripen your fruits and vegetables overnight?! I had never heard of this trick before, until the last time my wonderful grandma came to visit me!
We went to one of the local fresh farmer’s markets in town and picked up some yummy peaches… When we got back home, my grandma mentioned that if I wanted my peaches to ripen quicker, then I needed to do this one little, amazing trick!Continue reading →
Last summer my husband and I decided to upgrade our boat for something a little more kid friendly, so we ended up purchasing a really deep boat with a cuddy… Perfect for the kids, as well as fishing in those bigger waves that can sometimes pop up out of no where on the great lakes!
The boat that we purchased was not brand new, but totally new to us! In fact, this boat is actually a 1998… But it still looks pretty darn good, right?! When we launched our boat for the very first time, at a local boat launch, someone actually came up to us and said “Wow, that’s a really nice boat… It’s brand new, right?!”Continue reading →
Where we live, we are on well water, and let me tell you, our water is very, very rich in iron! It’s supposed to be pretty healthy for us to drink, so that’s good, but when it comes to cleaning, it’s just ridiculous! Our sinks, tubs, toilets and showers are always turning orange on us. Even when it comes to laundry, our whites will sometimes actually come out with orange spots on them, especially our white towels! All though I have pretty much given up on keeping our white laundry white, I have found some pretty good hacks for when it comes to cleaning up the orange left on everything else!Continue reading →
We have now been in our current family home for about 6 or 7 years, and I imagine that this home will be our home forever!
When we first moved in, the front of our house had a few bushes, but other than that, it was pretty sparse looking…
We decided that we wanted to do a large mulch flowerbed to give it a little more curb appeal. I’d never done a mulch garden before, but thought that I would like to give it a try.
Here we are, about 6 years later, and let me tell you, this mulch garden is still going strong! I only have to weed it about once, maybe twice a year, and maybe have to top it up with one or two new bags of mulch a year! (I actually only used half a bag this year!)
The first thing we did was layout the shape of our garden. Since the bushes were already planted before we moved in, we had to kind of work around/work them into our plan. We kind of ended up with a weird wavy shaped garden, but I think that kind of gives it a little more character. Continue reading →
For Earth Day, we decided to plant a tree! Our community came out with a program this year, where households could sign up to receive a free tree to plant. We signed up right away, and were lucky enough to get one!
Did you know that asparagus is actually separated into male and female shoots?! The male shoots are the ones that you harvest and eat, while the female shoots are the ones that you let grow and go to seed, in order to expand your patch.
I definitely don’t have the greenest thumb in my family, but I certainly am proud of my first little asparagus patch! It is now three years old, meaning that next year, it will be ready to be harvested throughout the season!
It’s doing so well, that I thought I would share some of the extra measures that I took to help ensure success.
