An “easy as pie” DIY Rag Wreath for Spring!

Have you been looking for the perfect DIY wreath for your home?! Well look no further… It doesn’t get much easier or prettier than this DIY rag wreath! Here I will give you a step-by-step on how to make this beautiful spring wreath in twenty minutes or less.

If you happened to catch some of my more recent posts, you may have caught my DIY Easter Bunny Family Décor that I made using, moss, paint, material and burlap…

Well, I ended up having a ton of the spring-patterned fabric that I used left over, so I needed some way to use it up…

Although I love a good wreath, I really wasn’t that familiar with rag wreaths before, but I just happened upon one from over at The Creek Line House, that I totally fell in love with and got completely inspired by…

So I decided to devise one myself, and well, this is what I came up with…

Not too, too bad, if I do say so, myself!

This project turned out to be so simple and easy to make, that I have been dying with excitement to share it with you!

Here is how I made it:

The first thing that I had to do, was find a wreath form, since I completely forgot to purchase one! Oops! I ended up using an old wire hanger, and just used my hands to form it into the shape of a circle…

I wasn’t one hundred percent sure if it was going to be perfect or not, but I think it ended up turning out almost perfect, so I will definitely be using this trick again!

Next I cut up all of my material into about 7-inch long by 1.5-inch pieces. This material was a 3 meter roll that I picked up from the dollar store. I didn’t know what I was going to use it for at the time that I bought it, but it was just too pretty and spring-y to pass up!

Now I hope I can explain this next step so that it’s not too confusing! Instead of tying the material around the hanger, I did this instead… I folded my material in half, and then wrapped it around my hanger by feeding the two loose ends of the strip back through the loop at the other end of my strip.

Then I separated the two ends and pulled them tightly. You could totally tie your ends loosely as well, depending on the look that you are going for!

And that’s it! I just kept tying and pulling, and sliding my strips as close together as I could for this rag wreath.

Personally, I think it turned out great, and I cannot wait to make another one!

  2. Your loop technique to put the fabric on the wire is the same as you use for making a rug?

    • Ah! I had no idea, but I have always wanted to try a rug! A denim rag-rug to be exact… Thanks for your comment, because now I feel like I can totally do it! 😀
