Today we are talking all about benches! If you were able to tune in earlier this month, you may have caught my post on my DIY bench made from a head-board and foot-board…
I found this bed set at a thrift store for about fifteen dollars, over two years ago, in hopes of making a bench out of it… But with life and stuff (working, momming, snowmobiling and fishing), it just sat around in The Project Pile, for practically, forever. Well until this month, that is!
I finally dug the bones for that bench out and had at’er! I was so happy and excited with how it turned out, I kind of feel like I want to make another one, and another one… and another one!
That’s how I decided to take a look at some other bloggers’ ideas and projects, and let me tell you, there really are a lot of neat DIY benches out there!
It was a little bit tough, but I was able to narrow down all of these great ideas to my top ten favorite. Some are so pretty, some are so eclectic, some are rustic, and some are fancy… Basically, what I’m trying to say is, that there is a bench for everyone on this list, no matter what your tastes are!Continue reading →
This year just happens to be Canada’s 150th birthday — Can you believe it?! I really wanted to create something special in order to celebrate this year. I wanted to devise something that would look a little on the rustic side, and also look just as old as Canada, itself…Continue reading →
I recently had the opportunity to join a new blogging group called Furniture Refresh! Each month, we get to take an old piece of furniture and breath new life into it using different products and techniques! This month, our mission was to stain a piece of furniture.
This is my first project with the Furniture Refresh group, so I’m really excited to share it with you all! Continue reading →

In order to do this, I decided that we needed a bench so that we would have more room for everyone to sit. So I headed out to The Project Pile… Did some digging… And this is what I found!Continue reading →
Lately, I have been seeing large strings of wooden beads all over in different home décor settings… At first I wasn’t one hundred percent sure about them, but the more I saw them, the more I fell in love and appreciated them!
Last week when I was out treasure hunting/thrifting, I happened upon a great find! A big bag of large wooden beads! I thought, oh my goodness, I bet I could just string these guys together, and voila! I would have my very own string of wooden beads!Continue reading →
Does anyone else have a slight obsession with twine, lately?! I love it! You can basically take any object, one that you don’t especially care for, wrap it in twine, and get a whole new look! It’s really like one of the easiest and least expensive décor hacks out there…
Did you know that twine is actually composed of two or more smaller strands that are individually twisted, and then twisted together, to make a larger strand.
I actually just had a flashback to my childhood years, and I think my fascination with twine may have all started when I was young and to keep busy while my parents were working in the fields on the farm, I would twist and braid pieces of bailer-twine… (And that’s how it all started?!)Continue reading →
Believe it or not, I just found these beautiful old bricks hanging out in the backyard, hidden in some bushes! I was pretty much ecstatic when I found them! I thought “Oh my gosh… Oh the great things that I can do with these bricks!”Continue reading →
