This Rustic DIY Potting Bench was created from an old farmhouse table and a shoe rack… Follow along as I share tips and tricks of how I did it, so you can devise your very own, for your home!
I’m not sure whether I enjoy digging in the dirt more for planting flowers, or for hunting for antique bottles… Both get my hands dirty, and both are relaxing!
This rustic DIY potting bench really brings together the best of both worlds!
I simply used an old farmhouse entry-way table that I had refinished last summer, but couldn’t quite find the right place for in my home… I think I’ve found it now! 😉
On top of the entry-way table, I added an old shoe rack that also did not have the perfect place in my home yet. I actually think that I have used this rack in almost every single room in our home for lots of different purposes… Shoes, plants, toys and even as a side table!
Now it gets to function as a really fun and pretty potting bench!
I used some really fun accessories to decorate my potting bench, and help give it a rustic feel, almost like something out of a dreamy fairy-tale.
The tea pot and a few other items came out of the project pile in the basement, and most of the other stuff came from the original giant project pile out in the garage!
I added in some pots, buckets and baskets to help build up the rustic character of my new potting bench.
All of the pretty pots were ones that I already owned and found randomly strewed around the house. Now each has a home, and I feel like I am one step closer to being an almost-organized person!
.
Next came my plants, flowers and antique bottles…
I have probably hundreds of antique glass bottles stored up around the garage and in the barn at my parent’s farm… Plus the few that have actually made it on display in our house.
Each bottle was hand-dug out of the fence lines on the farm. Either that, or found laying around, hidden in the barn or garage walls, or even hidden in trees and the woods!
Now I have another place to show off a few more of my favorite finds!
