It’s amazing of what a good coat of paint can do. See here how I transformed this special old tool box with just a single coat of paint, and a little bit of stamping, into a beautiful piece of decor for our home.
This old tool box is extra special to me. When my sister and I were young, my grandfather made each of us one of these wooden tool boxes, and bought us each a set of tools to put in it.
We would spend a lot of time out in his garage “playing” with our tools and making little boxes and other fun things.
Recently, when I was treasure hunting around on the farm, I came across my old Wooden Tool Box. I decided that it would make a really neat and special piece of decor for our home.
On the chance of sounding really old, when I came across this tool box, it was covered in about at least 20 years of dust!
I started out by giving this tool box a good cleaning…
And a good sanding, to get rid of any rough spots and edges.
I’ve tried quite a few different brands of Furniture/Decor Paint now, and I must say that I was completely impressed with the coverage of this Country Chic Paint that I recently purchased.
The color that was used for this project is called Rocky Mountain!
This old tool box was not only dusty, but also covered with some oil spots since it had been used to store tractor parts and gears and other miscellaneous items.
I used just one coat of paint for this project, and that was enough! You can see in the picture below how well it instantly covered!
After my box was quickly and easily painted, I used some of my Stamps to stamp out a pattern.
Here is how the box turned out…
I really love how the imperfections of stamping really adds an authentic element of age and rusticity to my projects.
