Is your baby teething?! Or to be more specific, super grumpy all the time and waking up throughout the night for no apparent reason?! If nothing else is noticeably wrong, then chances are that they are probably teething…
Some common symptoms and signs of teething include:
- Crankiness
- Trouble Sleeping
- Bumpy and Swollen Gums
- Drooling
- Trying to Bite and Put Everything in their Mouths
- Some associate fever and diarrhea with teething, but there is still some argument as to whether or not they are directly related
Both of my girls started teething right around three months, but they actually didn’t get their first tooth until 6 months, and nine months! That’s a lot of time spent teething!
My youngest is still working on tooth number four, so teething is definitely a real, everyday (and every night), challenge for us!
I do have some favorite tips, tricks and products that we definitely find helpful in our home, so I thought that I would share them with you, since the struggle for babies and parents out there, everywhere is so real! I’m also going to share some other products that have been recommended by a lot of moms and dads that I know…
Here Are My Top Ten Teething Products! (With some helpful tips along the way!)
Washcloths: One of the easiest and most effective teething helpers, is a wet wash cloth. My baby loves chewing and sucking on this. I just keep re-wetting it with cold water, and she loves it! You can even stick the wash cloth in the freezer for a little bit, to make it last extra long!
Camilia Baby Teething Relief: This product really helped us with our oldest daughter. When our other methods didn’t always work, this product did, and we found ourselves always having to have it stocked up in the cupboard!
Amber Teething Necklace: This is something that my girls never used, but I have lots of parent friends who absolutely swear by this!
Baby Teething Necklace for Mom to Wear: I recently picked up one of these for Soffia, my second daughter, and she just loves it! The nice thing about this necklace is that it comes in different colors, so you can help baby and still look super stylish at the same time!
Orajel Teething Nightime Formula: Both of my daughters used this product. I would rub a tiny bit on their gums before bed time, when they were teething. Whenever they woke up from teething in the middle of the night, and were having a rough time due to teething, I would give them a little bit more of this, and they would easily rock back to sleep. This is another product that I definitely always keep stocked up in our cupboard!
Sophie The Giraffe Teething Toy: This is one of those teething products that I totally thought was just a gimmick, bought totally broke down and bought one day, out of shear desperation… And you know what… It worked! I honestly have no idea of what makes it better or more appealing than other teething toys, but who cares as long as it works, right?!
Manhattan Toy Skwish Natural Teether: Both of my girls used/still use this teething toy! It’s great because it’s not only a teether, but also a fun dynamic toy with spinny and stretchy parts!
Frozen Teethers: This teether has got to be one of the most common teething toys around, and that’s because it’s really convenient and it also works! I always keep these on hand, frozen in the freezer. They are great for when I am trying to make supper… I can just quickly pull one out of the freezer, and it’s instant teething relief for baby!
Baby Toothbrush: This is another really quick and simple fix for your teething baby! Just like the wet washcloths, I used this trick with both my girls. Sometimes the soft bristles are just enough to help soothe those poor, sore little gums.
Oral Essentials Strawberry Kids Toothpaste: Sometimes I will add a teeny-tiny drop of non-fluoride toothpaste to my child’s toothbrush, and let them chew on it. Just remember that the toothpaste needs to be fluoride-free, in case baby ends up swallowing some of it.
Just remember that all babies are different, and if a product doesn’t work for one child, it might work for the next, so keep trying different tricks and products until you find the right one! Trust me, relief is out there!

I didn’t even know that Orajel had a nighttime product! That’s amazing. Now to track it down…
My boys both loved frozen washcloths. It was hysterical. I had about 3 in the freezer at a time. That and orajel were miracles. I also massaged their gums from time to time. You could just tell they were itchy and they loved when I massaged them. It’s not an easy time, but in hindsight, it all goes too fast!
My youngest loved a wet washcloth to chew on when he was teething and orajel got us through the night many times! Some great tips here, I have pinned it so share with a couple of my friends who I know will find it very useful. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
I don’t have kids yet but I heard it’s not fun when babies start teething ! You showed such a faboulous tips here and I am sure it’s very helpful for many moms ! Great post !
Sophie was a big hit in our house. We have two!
Ooh, I didn’t think washcloths could do the job. I’ve only ever bought Sophie, but it never worked a miracle on my baby.
I’m not sure how I feel about teething necklaces for moms to wear. It seems a little counter-productive because I definitely don’t want babies learning to chew on my other jewelry. But I guess everyone is different.
I always used the simple chilled teethers. And otherwise the girls would just chew on whatever they were holding, lol.
