Planning the perfect table setting for each season can be a somewhat daunting task…. Finding the right color pallet, incorporating different patterns and textures, and staying on budget of course, are just some of the challenges faced…

The trick is to purchase a few all-around neutral pieces that you can reuse for every season, and then just switch out a few of the pieces, like the napkin colors and the centerpiece, to get a totally different look for the next season!

Today I’m really excited to share my new thrifty pillar candle holders with you! I found these guys for $6.99 at our local Value Village. They are actually solid wood, and are hand carved… So my dream-style!

Lighting is the one main feature that every room needs, that is probably easier to buy than DIY most of the time… Good lighting is the key to setting the mood, and whether it’s task lighting or accent lighting, it can either make or break a room! I have put together a list of modern farmhouse style lighting, all for less than $100!

 

Is anyone still as in love with the modern farmhouse style as I am?! It’s been going strong for a while now, and if you had a chance to read Home Decor Style Trends; Design Experts Favourites written by Sam Franklin from A Happy Home In Holland, you might have noticed that a large majority of the bloggers, including myself, still had a thing for mixing farmhouse style into their current design trends!

Gorgeous Farmhouse Decor for Less than $25!

Guess what! Farmhouse decor design style is still going strong! Whether you are a true lover of farmhouse decor, or not really that into it, chances are that you probably already own something of this style, perhaps without even realizing it…

 

I can’t say for sure, but I think that farmhouse is one of those classic design styles that is here to stay!

 

If you think about it, you can have a straight up farmhouse decor design style, or you can take this style and mix it with another… modern, classic, rustic, traditional, industrial, french, coastal… just about anything!

 

Farmhouse decor can sometimes be very expensive, so I often try to DIY it as much as I can. I often find original and authentic, old, rusty pieces, then clean them up and give them a fresh coat of paint, like this DIY Tin Wall Art, for example.

 

However, you can’t always DIY everything, and sometimes it is just easier and more cost effective to but the decor than make it! Continue reading →

10 Pretty and Eclectic DIY Benches! Find the perfect bench for all of your benching needs!

Today we are talking all about benches! If you were able to tune in earlier this month, you may have caught my post on my DIY bench made from a head-board and foot-board…

I found this bed set at a thrift store for about fifteen dollars, over two years ago, in hopes of making a bench out of it… But with life and stuff (working, momming, snowmobiling and fishing), it just sat around in The Project Pile, for practically, forever. Well until this month, that is!

I finally dug the bones for that bench out and had at’er! I was so happy and excited with how it turned out, I kind of feel like I want to make another one, and another one… and another one!

That’s how I decided to take a look at some other bloggers’ ideas and projects, and let me tell you, there really are a lot of neat DIY benches out there!

It was a little bit tough, but I was able to narrow down all of these great ideas to my top ten favorite. Some are so pretty, some are so eclectic, some are rustic, and some are fancy… Basically, what I’m trying to say is, that there is a bench for everyone on this list, no matter what your tastes are!
