If you are looking for a really quick and easy way to decorate for Valentine’s Day, then this very simple rustic “LOVE” sign is for you. It took about 5 minutes to make, and it easily transforms your everyday decor into something special for Valentine’s Day! (Also included in this article: A Valentine’s Day Blog Hop!)
Who really has time for decorating anymore, in this super busy world that we live in?! Well, not me… But I still love to do it anyways! I wanted to come up with something similar to the DIY Barnboard Bunny Family Art Deco that I made for Easter last year.
However, when I pulled out all of my supplies, my daughter Soffia decided that she was going to help. No matter what! She kept trying to eat the moss, and the paint, and she was grabbing everything off the table, so I kind of just went, um ya… I think I’m gonna do something a little bit easier!
It was actually the gorgeous, chippy red paint on this beautiful piece of barnboard, that inspired me to use it for Valentine’s Day. Because of this detail (and the chaos), I decided to just get out the white paint and go for it!
I used some old stencils to paint the word love on the barnboard. Then I stuck it on my buffet.
To help set the mood of “romance is in the air”, I added a burlap banner that I painted little rustic red hearts on!
As well as this cute burlap bag from the dollar store, that I filled with faux flowers. The bag already had a heart painted on it, but it was sparkly red, so I decided to tone it down a bit with some more rustic red paint.
One of my latest hobbies is making over fun and rustic candle holders, so I of course thought that they would be perfect to go with my new sign!
Oh, and notice all of the faux foliage?! Well that’s because I’ve pretty much given up on real indoor plants. Everything I try to grow just never seems to make it! I’ve been trying to collect a few good pieces over the last couple of years that can be mixed in with pretty much any type of decor, and I think that I am finally at a really good point in my collection! (Well, for this room, anyways!)
And, well, that’s my super simple, yet super effective rustic Valentine’s Day decor! I hope you enjoyed this post, and remember when it comes to decor, sometimes less is more!
