This recipe can be made with or without crust. Both ways turn out great! If I’m feeling ambitious I will make it with crust… if I am not feeling that ambitious or if I’m just a little short on time, I will make it without the crust.
What you’ll need:
8 eggs
4 cups of chopped Broccoli Florets
1 package of Bacon
3 cups of shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 tbsp of Worcestershire Sauce
½ tsp of onion powder
¼ tsp of garlic powder
Optional: Your favorite pie crust recipe!
What to do:
Step One: In a medium sized frying pan fry up your bacon so that it is cooked, but not yet crispy.
(If I am making my quiche with crust, I usually prepare my crust while I am waiting for the bacon to cook.)
Step Two: Get your baking dish ready. I use a 13”x9”x2” glass baking dish.
(Just remember that if you use a deeper sized baking dish, you will have to adjust your cooking time accordingly.)
If you are making a crustless quiche, then you will want to line your baking dish with butter, margarine, or cooking spray. (Or if you are going for mega flavor, you can even use some of your bacon grease!)
If you are making your quiche with crust, then you will want to line your pan with flour, to prevent sticking, and then add your crust.
Step Three: Next, evenly spread the broccoli florets into your baking dish. Then layer the cheese on top.
Step Four: After your bacon is cooked, remove any excess grease, and then chop into pieces. Then layer your chopped bacon on top of the cheese.
Step Five: In a separate bowl, scramble the eggs up, and add the Worcestershire sauce, onion powder and garlic powder. Mix well.
Step Six: Pour the egg mixture into your baking dish over top of everything else. Cover with aluminum foil, and bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 60 minutes. Then remove the aluminum foil, and broil on high for three minutes.
Step Seven: Serve and enjoy! (I always eat mine with ketchup!)
If you happen to have any leftovers, this recipe keeps very well overnight in the refrigerator and can be reheated!
