Faux Pumpkins for Early-Fall Lovers! (Like Me!)

Do you love pumpkins and fall as much as I do??! Don’t get me wrong… I still love summer and don’t ever like to see it end, but my favorite is when those late August nights are right on the fine line where it’s not quite fall yet, but not quite summer any longer. These nights are the best!

Last summer my husband and I decided to upgrade our boat for something a little more kid friendly, so we ended up purchasing a really deep boat with a cuddy… Perfect for the kids, as well as fishing in those bigger waves that can sometimes pop up out of no where on the great lakes!

Lighting is the one main feature that every room needs, that is probably easier to buy than DIY most of the time… Good lighting is the key to setting the mood, and whether it’s task lighting or accent lighting, it can either make or break a room! I have put together a list of modern farmhouse style lighting, all for less than $100!

 

Is anyone still as in love with the modern farmhouse style as I am?! It’s been going strong for a while now, and if you had a chance to read Home Decor Style Trends; Design Experts Favourites written by Sam Franklin from A Happy Home In Holland, you might have noticed that a large majority of the bloggers, including myself, still had a thing for mixing farmhouse style into their current design trends!

 

That being said, I love to DIY as much farmhouse decor as I can! I have learned over the years though, that some times it can be more affordable to buy than to DIY. Have you noticed lately, that everyone’s clocks seem to be a lot bigger than they used to be?! They are huge these days, and in my opinion, just beautiful!

The only problem is, that they tend to be on the more expensive side… That’s why I decided to DIY my very own giant patio clock, out of an old tabletop!

This summer, I’ve really been trying to make my porch and patio the perfect outdoor family relaxation space…

My budget was pretty tight this year, so I pretty much tried to DIY just about everything that we needed out there, including my latest addition, my DIY Giant Patio Clock!

I had this old table sitting out in The Project Pile, that I had picked up on the side of the road for free, probably before I even had kids… Wow – that seems like forever ago!

Gorgeous Farmhouse Decor for Less than $25!

Guess what! Farmhouse decor design style is still going strong! Whether you are a true lover of farmhouse decor, or not really that into it, chances are that you probably already own something of this style, perhaps without even realizing it…

 

I can’t say for sure, but I think that farmhouse is one of those classic design styles that is here to stay!

 

If you think about it, you can have a straight up farmhouse decor design style, or you can take this style and mix it with another… modern, classic, rustic, traditional, industrial, french, coastal… just about anything!

 

Farmhouse decor can sometimes be very expensive, so I often try to DIY it as much as I can. I often find original and authentic, old, rusty pieces, then clean them up and give them a fresh coat of paint, like this DIY Tin Wall Art, for example.

 

However, you can’t always DIY everything, and sometimes it is just easier and more cost effective to but the decor than make it! Continue reading →
