Spring on the Farm and some Pretty Photos!

Spring has finally sprung on the farm! Although I’m a real snow-lover, as most of you know, I’ve been waiting and waiting for spring on the farm!

The last time we were down, we ended up having a real weird streak of weather and it turned out being negative twenty-four degrees while we were there! Like, what the heck?!!

This last weekend when we were down, however, ended up being just gorgeous! The Easter bunny even came for a visit!

One of my favorite things to do when I’m at the farm is to explore and take photos while I’m doing it! Continue reading

10 DIY Amazing Twine Projects (that you need to try, right now!)

Does anyone else have a slight obsession with twine, lately?! I love it! You can basically take any object, one that you don’t especially care for, wrap it in twine, and get a whole new look! It’s really like one of the easiest and least expensive décor hacks out there…

Did you know that twine is actually composed of two or more smaller strands that are individually twisted, and then twisted together, to make a larger strand.

I actually just had a flashback to my childhood years, and I think my fascination with twine may have all started when I was young and to keep busy while my parents were working in the fields on the farm, I would twist and braid pieces of bailer-twine… (And that’s how it all started?!) How to make a pretty set of Hooks with Authentic Barn Board

I collected a few pieces of beautiful, authentic barn board some time ago from my parents’ farm and it took me a really long time to figure out what to do with them…

One ended up as a sign to use in pictures for my sister’s gorgeous old-world-style wedding.

I used another piece to make my DIY painted flower box. (Which you can check out right, here!)

That left me with one final piece from the farm, and after a while, I finally came up with the perfect idea – a pretty set of hooks… you know, for hanging stuff! Like hats and purses… or even Christmas stockings! Continue reading

Easy, Breezy, Beautiful Easter Décor! (All you really need are a few good pieces!)

Can you believe that I never really had any Easter décor, before last year?! I still kind of can’t even believe it myself! I guess it’s because Easter is usually a pretty big traveling holiday for us.

However, since I’m now a mom, I decided that I should probably put on my mom-hat, hunker down and buy some Easter décor. So I did… but I tried to be very wise about it! Continue reading

How a little bit of paint and new flooring can take any room to the next level!

It’s amazing what you can do with a little bit of paint and some new flooring! When we first looked at purchasing our home, it was the large open space that got us! (Definitely not the once-white carpet!)

We thought oh man, how amazing would this space look with hardwood floors in it?! After we decided to make this house our home, I started dreaming of new hardwood floors, but didn’t actually think it would be something that we would be able to afford anytime soon.

Then, one day, we were just randomly shopping at Home Depot, and happened upon this beautiful hardwood flooring on sale for super cheap! I was about 98% sure that it matched the color of the hardwood already present in our dining room. We quickly snatched up a sample and ran home to check… and it did! Yipee! We were one step closer to getting our hardwood floors!

Although we could afford the flooring, we were not 100% sure that we could afford to pay for someone to install it, or that we wanted to pay someone to install it.

This lead to a quick phone call to my parents, to see if maybe they would help us, since they had previously installed hardwood flooring (that they made themselves from trees on the farm!). They said yes, and that they had all of the equipment that we needed and would bring it!

My parents live about 5.5 hours away and are always super busy with their farming, so I had a little bit of time to do the prep work before they got here.

The very first steps that I took were to remove the baseboard, and then start ripping up the carpet. When I removed the baseboard, I was very careful to label the baseboard itself and the wall where it came from, so I would know where to put it back.

Once I had ripped all of the carpet out, I thought, oh man… if we ever want to paint these walls, now’s definitely the time to do it! So I called up my husband at work, and said hey… I kind of want to paint too! Not really having that much of a choice, he said ok fine, and that night we went to pick out our paint colors. The next morning I started painting!

As you can see, we actually decided to paint the living room two colors to give it a little more dimension. (Please ignore the mess!)

After all of my carpet was ripped up, and my walls were painted, my parents headed up, and it was time to start installing the floors!

Row by row, we got it done. 564 square feet of hardwood flooring banged out in two days!

Here are the after pictures… What do you think? Would you choose before or after?!

Miss Lacee Grace’s Bedroom Makeover!

Hey y’all! Today, I’d like to share my 3 year old daughter’s quick and easy bedroom makeover!

When my husband and I found out that we were expecting our second daughter, we decided that we better move our first daughter, Miss Lacee Grace, out of the nursery and into one of the other bedrooms in our house.

Her poor new room was desperately in need of a huge makeover! The floors were fine, but the walls definitely needed a little refresh!

Maybe some new furniture too! It kind of looks like a dorm room in these photos… Mis-matched furniture everywhere!

Wanting to give my daughter some say in her new room (even though she was only two at the time), I let her select the color… Of course, she picked purple.

Wait a minute… Isn’t this room already purple?!

Yes. Yes it is. So yes. I ended up painting an already purple room purple. Oh life!

I did decide to change it up a bit by painting it a dark purple color on some of the walls though, and then a light grey on the other walls, to ensure that it didn’t end up being too dark of a room.

I couldn’t decide what theme to use for her room, so I just started scouring antique and home décor shops until I found the perfect inspiration pieces… Beautiful steel butterflies!

Building on top of these inspiration pieces was very simple… I added some small gold butterflies that I came across while out shopping. They just stuck on the wall and were very easy to apply.

Oh! And see that “Dance like no one is watching” decal?! I found that at a yard sale for .50c a couple of years ago, and had been saving it for the perfect spot! (I think I found it!)

It always amazes me of what a little bit of fresh paint and a few simple décor pieces can do to a room!

I think she likes it!
